AI trained on X-rays can diagnose medical issues as accurately as doctors

A collaborative study funded by Wellcome Trust has shown that AI, specifically the X-Raydar software, can analyse X-rays as accurately as or more accurately than doctors.

Trained on 2.8 million chest X-rays, X-Raydar can detect 37 conditions with 94% accuracy for 35 of them. The AI eliminates human error and bias, offering a “ultimate second opinion” or serving as a screening tool. Open-sourced for non-commercial use, the software aims to reduce doctor workload and improve efficiency in healthcare.
