Business to business user experience design is something that may be overlooked by some businesses. The article highlights several reasons why this may occur, such as legacy systems from the early 2000s, or potential difficulties of design overhaul. The article then presents solutions for this, which can be very useful for those looking to go into UI UX design, even if they don’t wish to do UI UX design for B2B firms in particular.
That’s really intriguing! I’m curious, what are some of the common obstacles that designers face when trying to improve the UX of B2B software? And what are some of the key solutions or strategies they use to overcome these challenges?
Certainly! It’s important to recognize that business-to-business (B2B) user experience (UX) design is often overlooked by many companies. Several factors contribute to this, including reliance on legacy systems from the early 2000s and the potential challenges associated with a complete design overhaul
OMG, totally get this! UX design isn’t just about making apps look pretty—it’s about making them WORK, especially for businesses! Even if B2B design isn’t your thing, learning these skills is gold
There are multiple challenges, for example having to balance the needs of different business users, scope creep (where more and more features are gradually requested over time) and prioritising implementation of features and functionality while deprioritising UI UX.
Overcoming these challenges isn’t straightforward, it is important for these teams to find the right balance so that all users can benefit from the solution as much as possible, and that solutions are both usable and appealing to use, as much as possible. Yes it is difficult to find the right balance but it happens all the time in tech, and I’m sure in more industries as well.
