Hey everyone,
Lately, I’ve been finding it really hard to balance everything like uni work, lectures, assignments, part-time work and still have time to work on personal coding projects.
I’ve got so many ideas I’d love to build, a web app here, a fun little game there, maybe even contribute to open source, but most of the time I feel like I’m just trying to stay afloat with uni deadlines. I start something, get excited for a few days, and then abandon it the second coursework starts piling up again.
Does anyone else feel like this?
I’ve been experimenting with ways to manage it better:
• Setting small, realistic goals each week instead of overwhelming myself with huge side projects
• Using tools like Notes to keep track of what I’m working on
• Blocking out specific times (even just an hour or two a week) to code for fun—guilt-free
• And occasionally trying to merge uni work with personal interests, like picking project topics I actually care about
Still, I haven’t quite figured it out. Some weeks I feel productive, others I feel totally burned out.
So I’m curious. How are you all managing this balance? Are you keeping up with side projects? Have you found a schedule or mindset that actually works for you?
Would love to hear how you’re handling it. I think a lot of us are in the same boat, and it’d be great to share ideas or just know we’re not alone in the chaos.
