Day of the Dead 💀

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd. It is a time for families and communities to come together to remember and honor their deceased loved ones. The holiday is a blend of indigenous Aztec beliefs and Catholicism, resulting in a unique and colourful tradition. :mexico:

During Día de los Muertos, families create ofrendas (altars) at home and in cemeteries, adorned with marigolds, candles, incense, and the favourite foods, beverages, and possessions of the departed. Sugar skulls and pan de muerto (bread of the dead) are common offerings. The ofrendas are meant to welcome the spirits of the deceased back to the world of the living.

Families visit the graves of their loved ones, where they clean and decorate the tombstones, sing, dance, and share stories about the departed. It’s a joyful celebration of life and death, emphasising the belief that the spirits of the deceased return to be with their families for a brief time. :bouquet: :cherry_blossom:
