The IMF’s (International monetary fund’s) Fund Internship Program provides an insight into the view of the member-country focused mandate and critical international work of the IMF. You will build professional networks whilst applying research and analytical skills. This is an ideal opportunity for politics students who are seeking to learn more about policy or want to work for international organisations.
50 students from around the world sign up to the program each year at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. These are paid internships which take place between June and October and run for 10 to 12 weeks.
Whilst the prospect of working in Washington D.C may seem daunting and expensive. Remember that universities in the UK offer a whole host of funding including International work grants, government Turing funding, school-based funding and widening participation funding.
Also, all the other students are likely to have travelled from all over the world so will be experiencing the same feelings and it will be a great way to meet people !
