Normally, allosteric regulation, which controls metabolism, is inhibited during feeding and activated during fasting in non-obese mice. However, in obese mice, this process is reversed: it’s increased during feeding and inhibited during fasting. The study, examined liver samples from mice at typical weight and those with obesity after feeding and fasting periods. By understanding these metabolic changes, scientists aim to comprehend how obesity impacts health and contributes to disease development. Although the study focused on mice livers, researchers anticipate similar results in humans.
