OpenAI's Sora can generate amazing video from text prompts

OpenAI is trialling Sora, their latest text-to-video model which can create short (1 minute) video clips from simple prompts and which looks set to shake up the creative industries.

Already one US studio has wrapped an $800 million expansion plan that would have added 12 new soundstages and increased usable backlot space at their 330-acre facility in Atlanta.

This technology is still at an early stage, but the videos posted by OpenAI on their Sora web page provide a glimpse into what is coming.

Short extract here:

Prompt: A stylish woman walks down a Tokyo street filled with warm glowing neon and animated city signage. She wears a black leather jacket, a long red dress, and black boots, and carries a black purse. She wears sunglasses and red lipstick. She walks confidently and casually. The street is damp and reflective, creating a mirror effect of the colorful lights. Many pedestrians walk about.

incredible! although i am a bit concerned about the uses of AI videos. I hope there are proper laws and regulations in place to make AI video tools safe and ethical

I haven’t really looked into the regulation of AI videos specifically but OpenAI have said that they plan on including C2PA metadata in the AI videos, which will enable for identification of Sora AI generated videos
