I can’t stress this enough: DO NOT choose a top uni just because it is a top uni. Choose the university that suits your academic needs most and that is the most prepared to deliver your desired course best!

this is so useful, i was never given advice on pursuing a postgraduate studies and i wish i had been more informed!

Many people don’t understand that any choice you make should be coming from a place of a want. Top unis are extremely competitive and stressful, so better do master’s somewhere where you won’t kill yourself, but would enjoy it. Prestige of university rarely makes a significant difference

True, just choose what you like and don’t bother following stereotypes saying that if you are not studying at a top uni, then the master’s will be useless: that’s just false.

I would say it depends, for some degrees they are definitely not needed , however for others like in my case clinical psychology you have to have it to qualify

oh yes i agree in that case, for me my parents always wanted me to pursue a masters but i dont truly see myself enjoying studying a subject if its not 100% necessary!
