Reflections On Term One - Discussion Post!

Hey, guys! I thought it might be helpful to make a post for the end of term one to see how everyone is feeling about their studies, share some successes, or get some help from the community for anything they are struggling with.

How would you describe your term one?

I’ll start off by sharing that I am now halfway through my third year! I really enjoyed the modules that I picked this year. I had been gunning since first year to take this third year urban geography and film class which I’m so happy I finally got to take! I have three more pieces of coursework to get through for the term; one I’m finishing up now and two essays due in January. I’m not the strongest essay writer (if anyone has any holy grail resources pls share!), but I’m really excited about the topics since they are for my urban ecology and my film class, so hopefully they’ll still turn out alright! I’m also going into crunch time on applying to internships and grad schemes. This break is going to be a lot of applications, essay writing, and dissertation reading, but I’m still looking forward to it because I’m going back home to the US for the holidays!

I’d love to hear how you guys are doing after this term, so sound off below! :heart_hands:

Great to hear that your first term has gone well !

I have found second year more relaxed than first year, I think it is probably because I have spent more time at university rather than socialising. I have also enjoyed the modules I have taken and have had a reduced workload as I decided not to do a language alongside my course this year. I have no exams this semester which also helps and I’m just waiting to get feedback on my essays. I always feel that they are a shot in the dark, as it is often hard to know exactly what the lectures are after, however, as I have got to know them better they are starting to share more tips, office hours helps a lot !

Honestly the amount of socializing you do as a fresher is needed so you can get acclimated to being at uni! It’s good that you’re feeling calmer because your probably establishing a good routine for yourself!
