Last week, it was Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

In light of this, Kyniska Advocacy - who ensure that sports communities foster a safe environment to protect athletes from harm and prevent abuse - released a 2024-2025 Strategy with their new missions and planned activity for the coming years.

There are still seeing a devastating number of athletes suffering abuse in sport. Over the next two years, Kyniska Advocacy are committing to challenge the culture and structures that fail to protect the athletes it is set up to serve.

In setting these new missions, they will be working towards their overarching vision: A sporting community which fosters a safe environment for all athletes and has the protection and welfare of women at its heart.

Missions:

  • Advocate: Ensure that sports communities foster a safe environment and their structures serve to protect athletes from harm and prevent abuse.
  • Support: Fill the current gap in the support system for survivors of abuse in sport
  • Educate: Ensure every athlete, coach, and parent understands the importance of athlete well-being and can spot the signs of abuse.
