In the bustling city of Mumbai, Gaurang Telang’s journey into the world of biotechnology began. A PhD Candidate (Part-Time) at Amity University, Gaurang has become a trailblazer in the field of T-cell immunomodulation using mesenchymal stem cells.
Educational Pursuits
Gaurang’s academic journey included a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from D.Y. Patil University in Navi Mumbai, followed by a Master’s degree from Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute in Pune.
Gaurang’s Career Path
During his Bachelor’s thesis, Gaurang explored differentiating bone cells from Dental Pulp Stem Cells, laying the foundation for his interest in immunology and stem cell research. His professional journey took him to Logical Life Science Pvt. Ltd., Pune, where he served as a Research Associate and later as a Creative Associate.
Gaurang’s current research focuses on T-cell immunomodulation, particularly isolating T cells from human blood and conducting experiments on cancer cells, stem cells, and tumor tissues. His goal is to enhance the immune response against cancer without resorting to genetic manipulation or conventional treatments.
Beyond the lab
Gaurang discovered a passion for scientific illustration and graphics, contributing visualizations to research papers and communicating complex concepts through art. His creative endeavors extended to creating comics on biological topics, some of which are published on Amazon Kindle.

Despite not being a class topper, his insatiable curiosity fueled his understanding of complex biology. Gaurang has received accolades such as the Young Researcher Award, International Best Researcher Award, and 1st Prize in a Quiz competition for the STUTI Program on material science.
