What is a PTA and how do they benefit schools?

What is a PTA?
A PTA, or Parent-Teacher Association, is a collaborative effort between volunteer parents and teachers dedicated to enhancing the educational environment for children. Through a variety of engaging initiatives, events, and creative endeavours, they raise additional funds to support the school’s needs. Often referred to as HSA, PA, PTFA, Friends of, or affectionately, Superheroes, they tirelessly work to make a positive impact on the educational experience of students.

How does a PTA impact schools?
Across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, PTA members make a remarkable contribution of £120 million annually towards the education of our children and young adults. Yes, that’s correct — £120 million each year.

Each PTA, while far from ordinary, typically raises an impressive £9,000 annually. This funding supplements school budgets, providing resources and experiences that would otherwise be out of reach. Imagine the possibilities for your school with an extra £9,000 at its disposal.

A very useful one for me. As an international student, who plans to stay in the UK after graduation, it’s important to know such important aspects of education in this country
