Why you need to proof read your essays

It seems pretty explanatory, but a lot of people don’t do it, including myself some times ! I always find proofreading essays has always helped getting high marks especially helping to avoid little mistakes (grammar mainly). When writing an essay its best to write all your ideas down then go on after, restricting yourself to word counts when writing may lead you to cut out key points so its often best to write everything then cut down after.

So why is it so important:

Error Correction: Proofreading helps you catch and correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax. These errors can detract from the clarity and professionalism of your writing.

Clarity and Coherence: By proofreading, you ensure that your ideas are communicated clearly and coherently. It allows you to identify any awkward or confusing phrasing that may hinder the reader’s understanding of your arguments.

Consistency: Proofreading helps maintain consistency in formatting, style, and tone throughout your essay. Consistency enhances readability and professionalism.

Enhanced Quality: Through proofreading, you have the opportunity to refine your writing and improve the quality of your essay. It allows you to fine-tune your arguments, provide stronger evidence, and ensure that your writing meets the standards expected in academic or professional settings.

Polished Presentation: A well-proofread essay presents a polished and professional image to your readers, whether they are instructors, colleagues, or potential employers. It demonstrates your attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Avoidance of Embarrassment: Proofreading helps you avoid embarrassing mistakes that could undermine your credibility and authority as a writer. Simple errors can lead readers to question the accuracy and reliability of your content.

Higher Grades or Evaluation Scores: In academic settings, submitting an essay that is thoroughly proofread can contribute to higher grades or evaluation scores. Clear, error-free writing is often associated with higher levels of competence and mastery of the subject matter.

Overall, proofreading is an essential step in the writing process that ensures your essays are accurate, clear, and polished, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness and impact.

Oh, the amount of points that you can lose because of just some basic grammar errors🫠 Always make sure to put your work away for a day or two, and then look at it again. Much easier to spot grammatical errors and incoherent sentences this way
