Numerous transformations within the legal sector are driven by client demands, and the increased integration of technology stands out as a prominent illustration. Jack Newton, the CEO and Founder of Clio, remarks, “The unmistakable consumer demand for remote legal solutions is reshaping the landscape.”
According to Clio’s latest legal trends report, the willingness of clients to engage with lawyers remotely has undergone a remarkable shift. In 2018, only 23% of consumers expressed openness to remote legal assistance. However, the latest findings indicate a substantial increase, with 79% of consumers now considering the ability to consult with a lawyer remotely as a decisive factor in their choice of legal representation. Moreover, 58% of individuals expressed a desire for video consultations as a viable option.
In addition to propelling firms towards broader technology adoption, clients are increasingly emphasizing values such as sustainability, diversity, and inclusion—priorities that have gained prominence in recent years. Clients expect law firms not only to exhibit a forward-thinking approach but also to offer guidance and support on integrating these values into their own business practices through learning and development initiatives.
