Don't get scammed about Freshers Week tickets

This is a genuine post on a social media platform from a couple of years ago:

Gonna get fired for this but &*#$ it

I got a social media marketing internship this summer for an events management company that markets student oriented parties.

Day one, I got handed a company phone with 7 different university group chats on it. On this phone, I attended Bristol Uni, MMU, Notts and Trent, UOG, Swansea childhood studies.

My job was to basically act like a confused student in these group chats. Then I’d be prompted to ask about parties. I’d then shout out to my team, who are also role playing students in the chat, to go to chat so and so. They’d then invite me to said event that we’re promoting.

I’m quitting after a girl said my fake account is her first friend in the U.K. but that’s how tickets are sold.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Wow, that’s wild! I can’t believe they actually had you do that. Sounds like they made the right choice by quitting, though—definitely feels wrong to play with people’s trust like that. Thanks for sharing the warning!

Wild, eh?

Especially sad that one international student who thought he was going to be a real friend

That sounds quite intense. I can see why you’d want to quit after realising how it affected the girl who thought you were her first friend. It must have been tough to deal with :sob:
