Are there currently any roles for computer science students?
How can I get a job as a first year, that can also be useful for what I am studying which is law, as it is quite competitive? And, it will be great so I can also cover my expenses

Its great that you are already thinking about getting some experience and working part time to save a little is always sensible. Firstly, I would say, please check out the university website thoroughly as a lot of them offer work opportunities for first year students, it may even be directly linked to your course/ field (also it could get added to your final transcript), this is how I secured the internship I am currently doing myself. Secondly, sites like Indeed and glass door are great for student, of course the competition will be higher but if you put in the applications early when other students are focused on other things then it could increase those odds. Finally, make sure to tell people (friends, lecturers…) that you are looking to work/ get experience, they might have connections or direct you to useful resources. Hope this helps
