There is a large overlap between the fields of physics and computer science. Some people who have, or are working towards a degree in physics, may be considering a pursuing a career in computer science. Some available jobs would be:
- Hardware development - an understanding of electricity physics and electronics provide a solid and in depth understanding of the inner workings of hardware.
- Data science - physics provides many mutual and overlapping skills, such as statistics, problem solving and in depth analytical skills
- Game development - particularly for development of physics engines
- Robotics engineer - knowledge of electronics is integral to this field
- Scientific software developer - developing software particularly for scientific programs and applications
- Medicine physics machine engineers - application of medicinal physics, such as x-rays, CAT, PET, etc machines, and engineering of the hardware and software components.
These are just some interesting careers in computer science that can be attained with a physics degree.
