How can I certify my language skills?

Are you a speaker of foreign language but don’t have the qualifications to prove it?
Maybe you have learned a language outside of school/university but would still like to have evidence of this on your CV?

Well worry not!

Here are the links to the institutes relating to different countries, where you can take classes and/or book examinations to receive a certified language certificate.

Spanish - la prueba DELE : Exámenes - Instituto Cervantes |
French - l’examen DELF/DALF : DELF/DALF Tout Public - Institut Français · Royaume-Uni
Catalan - Llengua - Certificats de catalĂ  - Institut Ramon Llull
German - German Language Proficiency Levels Exams | Goethe Institut UK
Mandarin - HSK Test Centre

Reminder of the level information and expected equivalents in the usual education system
A1 - A2 : beginner (GCSE/A level)
B1 - B2 : intermediate (Years 1-3 of university)
C1 - C2 : advanced (Final year of university)

Oh, still remember the struggle of trying to understand language certificates when i was considering moving to the UK. It’s definitely worth to have on your CV!

I studied till A2 German and I remember how hard I found it, especially the genders and grammar rules , didn’t end up writing the exam but I’m glad I still studied it though

Oh thank you for sharing, Kiara!

If anyone else is aware of any more for the languages they speak (or not) please leave them in the comments. They can be so useful.
