Professor Sebastien Ourselin, Director of King’s Health Partners (KHP) Digital Health and Data Sciences, outlines the partnership’s digital strategy, which aims to create a fully digitized health system that enhances personalized patient care. The strategy is built on four key pillars:
- Training: The KHP Digital Health Academy provides asynchronous and hybrid training modules and workshops to empower innovators in developing digital health solutions. This initiative has attracted over 5,000 participants, including international attendees.
- Co-Design: Engaging patients and end-users from the ideation phase through to prototyping is essential. This co-design approach improves the effectiveness of digital health solutions and their acceptance in the market.
- Translation: The transition from concept to clinical deployment involves navigating a complex process. The AI Centre for Value-Based Healthcare facilitates this journey within an ethical and technical framework, ensuring that digital products are developed responsibly.
- Acceleration: KHP aims to commercialize technologies both nationally and internationally. This includes forming partnerships with large companies and supporting the creation of spinout technologies from within the organization.
The importance of digital health and data sciences in healthcare is increasing globally. A fully digital system would allow for comprehensive medical records, improving personalized care by providing healthcare providers with a complete view of patient data. This would facilitate the use of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, ultimately enhancing the quality of care through a more individualised approach.
