How to beat the train price-hike

As geographers, whenever we can we love to get out-and-about travelling. For Brits this often means taking the train, which us Uni students are well-versed in from the annual Christmas and Easter visits, as well as a few home-sick visits sprinkled in-between. But unfortunately, from last Sunday the average regulated rail fair as jumped up by 4.9%. Check out the article below for a few tips on how you may be able to save a few quid on your travels.

This is really helpful, owning a rail card has helped me save a good chunk of money.

Thanks for this advice. The train is already so expensive with a railcard! It’s almost like it’s a luxury to travel around the UK now, which is a shame. People should be able to access affordable rail travel. This is also going to mean people choose to drive more rather than take the train, which is doing no good for the environment.
