We’ve heard it before, that it is a very good idea to prepare for your university course over the Summer. To be honest, while you may think you won’t have energy for this if you hear this right after you finished exams, there’s a chance you’ll get bored anyway and want to indeed prepare. Here are some tips on how you can prepare for masters:
-
Look over, even if briefly, the preliminary readings - universities may recommend suitable literature to serve as an introduction to what you will be studying in your course, this will serve as a good basis for you and will definitely help you get a head start
-
Do your own general reading, outside of what may be recommended by the university - here you will be able to get more ideas and become familiar to a wider range of subjects and notions outside of the preliminary readings
-
Connect with others on your course - just like with undergraduate studies, group chats, Facebook groups and Instagram pages will appear specifically for the year you start, and for your course - it is a good idea to know the other students on your course earlier
-
Research the different optional module possibilities - you will be better prepared to select what you wish to focus on when you have to choose, hence you won’t have to rush your decision and end up taking modules you may regret
-
If studying at a different university, it is beneficial to take a campus tour, even if virtual - this is to better acquaint yourself to the new environment
