Jennifer Darlow argues that despite growing challenges, calling the NHS “broken” is unhelpful and fails to recognize the incredible work still being done. She acknowledges issues like rising costs, staff shortages, and missed targets, but emphasizes that the NHS continues to provide life-saving care. Darlow highlights how negative rhetoric can damage public trust and staff morale. She describes the dedication of NHS workers and the positive outcomes they achieve, stressing that while reform is needed, labeling the NHS as “broken” undermines the efforts of healthcare professionals and may worsen public perception.

I completely agree with Jennifer Darlow! It’s so important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of NHS staff, especially when they’re facing such immense challenges. I’ve heard a lot of negative rhetoric lately, and it really does impact public trust. What do you think are some effective ways to highlight the positive work being done in the NHS while still addressing the need for reform?
Its certainly important not to overlook the incredible work of the NHS despite challenges. Even thought there is a large backlog it does seem to be decreasing. Politicians should continue to support it and not be quick to accept that it is not working.
