Is your degree as good as you expected?

Hi everyone

Many people, including myself, are pretty dissatisfied with what they got from their degree in comparison to what they thought their experience would be before commencing their studies. Thus, I am curious to hear your perspectives on this - be honest!

  • Yes, itā€™s amazing!
  • Kind of, could have been betterā€¦
  • It is pretty badā€¦
  • Absolute disaster.

Some things could have been better, they donā€™t really teach us how to use a lot of popular technologies that will be used in actual workplaces, but I canā€™t say that what they taught us so far has been exactly useless

I think my degree (English Literature) is exactly what i expected it to be. But what doesnā€™t help is that halfway through my second year i realised that i kind of wanted to work in a completely different industry haha So although the degree isnā€™t to blame for that, it definitely made it a bit less enjoyable

I think my degree was good for someone that was looking to do just marketing and advertising. I was looking for something more creative that involved filming and creating. It was my fault for not choosing the right course. However I enjoyed it and learned a lot

I think not being taught how to use popular technologies is pretty detrimental, especially because you are studying computer science so that should be an important focus lmao

It is never oneā€™s fault for choosing a course! We are pressured to predict what we want to do in the future when are are in high school, so do not feel to bad aboutit! What ould you rather do now?

Indeed, a lot of us would benefit from learning or at least familiarising ourselves with some of these tools/technologies

Yeah, it makes me very happy! Although itā€™s sad to see students who donā€™t really know what to do in life. Honestly think that UKā€™s educational system is failing them a bit

I think the UKā€™s educational system is failing quite oftenā€¦sad to see that especially at ā€œtopā€ universities tbhā€¦
