Lytham teenager let down by mental health services - family

Bella Greer, a 14-year-old who tragically took her own life, was found unresponsive in her bedroom in Lytham, Lancashire. Her family claims she was let down by mental health services after a delay in assessing her following an earlier drugs overdose. Despite concerns raised, the assistant coroner could not definitively conclude that her death could have been prevented. The Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust expressed condolences to Bella’s family and highlighted improvements made in response to communication issues and triage procedures.

What measures do you think mental health services should take to ensure timely and effective support for vulnerable individuals, especially teenagers, experiencing mental health crises?

this is so upsetting :frowning: it’s not even what mental health service can do, it’s the environment we are put in, the people around her how everyone can just be a bit kinder to each other life might just be a bit easier

It is already such a hard time for teenagers, the support systems in place should be a comfort place for parents.

definitely think there should be a bigger focus on having enough school counsellors + high quality school counsellors so that its possible to identify warning signs and act on them

this is awful, we need change

Truly horrible to hear that. And this is only one of the cases like that. Imagine how many go unnoticed…
