NHS Appeals for Young Blood Donors as Numbers Plummet

Health officials are urging young adults to donate blood as the number of regular donors among those aged 17 to 24 in England has nearly halved in the last five years, according to NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT).

The shift in age demographics has seen more than half of current blood donors being over 45, deviating from the trend of a younger donor pool observed since 2018. Authorities are encouraging young individuals to contribute to blood donation efforts to address this decline among the youngest age group.
