The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a warning to doctors to watch for misuse of obesity injections, such as Wegovy, following reports of non-obese individuals getting sick after using them for weight loss. These medications are intended only for treating obesity and diabetes. Health Secretary Wes Streeting emphasized that they are “serious medicines,” not for cosmetic purposes, and should only be used under medical supervision. While most side effects are mild, some can be serious. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and digestive issues. The MHRA stresses that the drugs’ benefits outweigh risks only for approved patients.
