10 Tips for Academic Success!

Here are some quick tips from one student to another, to help you succeed with your academic work!

  1. Time Management: Create a schedule and stick to it! Make sure you prioritise tasks that require immediate attention, and stick to deadlines.

  2. Effective Note-Taking: Rather than being overloaded with information during lectures, be sure to summarise key points, rather than trying to write everything!

  3. Active Learning: Engage with course material; don’t just turn up to lectures, do some further reading, listen to some Podcasts!

  4. Stay Organised: Use monthly and/or weekly planners. You can also use apps such as Pretty Progress to track coursework deadlines!

  5. Utilise Resources: Most universities have dedicated student library and academic support - make use of them!

  6. Seek Help: Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Remember to use the IF community Ask Me Anything chat function too!

  7. Balance Health: Remember that it’s important to look after yourself first, always. Make time for your own wellbeing, and be sure to get enough rest and recovery too!

  8. Active Revision: Regularly review course material.

Podcasts are a great and fun way to gain some additional knowledge about any subject! Especially when you’re feeling stressed and tired from constant learning. Feels like a nice break, but also useful

When I was in uni I always made a weekly schedule on sundays! I always recommend it to people because whenever I was too lazy to make a plan I would always end up doing things last minute and barely had any time for social life. Create a schedule kids!!
