Alzheimer’s Research UK reports that one in 10 deaths in the UK in 2022 were due to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The charity calls for prompt availability of any drugs proven safe and effective in treating the diseases on the NHS. In 2022, 74,261 people died from dementia and Alzheimer’s, compared to 69,178 in 2021, with over 48,000 being women. The charity highlights the need for awareness of warning signs, including mood changes, difficulty learning new things, repeated questioning, placing objects in strange locations, and struggling with organisation and daily life.
