Finger pricking test could help spot brain cancer recurrence sooner

Scientists are developing a revolutionary finger-pricking test for early brain tumour detection. Brain cancer affects 300,000+ people annually, with the unpredictability of recurrence posing a significant challenge. The Nottingham Trent University-led team is creating a lateral flow test to enable at-home monitoring, potentially extending lives and reducing the healthcare system’s burden. This simple test could detect tumour-specific molecules in the blood, providing early indications of recurrence. The hope is that it can be adapted for other cancer types, improving early detection and saving lives.

Agree! It is fascinating how they managed to come up with a tool that would help people to get checked quickly. Especially with cancer, when early treatment is always crucial for a successful recovery
