New tech to improve cancer detection and treatment

A new state-of-the-art cyclotron at Castle Hill Hospital, East Yorkshire, will improve cancer and disease detection, including Alzheimer’s and heart conditions. Funded by the Daisy Appeal, the £9m Molecular Imaging Research Centre will offer early diagnosis, reducing the need for patients to travel to southern cities like London. The facility, the only one of its kind in northern England, will produce radiotracers for advanced detection starting in 2025. The pandemic delayed the project, but it marks a major step forward for regional healthcare.
