A global research team, led by the University of Oxford, has released the first digital atlas showcasing foetal brain development between 14 and 31 weeks of gestation. This groundbreaking atlas, was created by analysing over 2,500 3D ultrasound brain scans using artificial intelligence. It reveals consistent patterns of foetal brain growth across diverse populations, emphasising the crucial role of maternal health and environment. The atlas, freely available online, is a valuable resource for researchers and clinicians, aiding in the detection of abnormal brain development during pregnancy.
