Asian upbringing is the anthesis to this, I was pretty much pushed down one of 2 paths. Doctor or Engineer, now I have developed a passion for Engineering so I am grateful. You might say well if you were forced down that path then that “passion” wasn’t natural, maybe, but I don’t mind that really, I enjoy it and that’s all that matters to me.
But it did affect me during my childhood, I would say no a lot! Well I knew I would become a Doctor or Engineer right so why would I dive into music production or video production. Now looking back, I feel they were opportunities for me to grow and meet new people. I can’t change the past but I can view my present and future differently. I encourage everyone to give this some thought as well. Great tweat. 
Most important thing as early as possible is to find something you’re good at that can earn you money and then to spend time getting really good at it.
