As more and more legaltech solutions and companies are being developed, there are also various Python libraries available which assist lawyers and law firms, and make it easier for developers to develop solutions for the legal sector. Here are some of them:

  • legalneuralnet - used for the training of neural networks for classification of legal texts

  • AuthoritySpoke - open source, legal authority automation tool which assists you with court opinions, legislative enactments and legal procedural rules structured annotations

  • Treatise AI - legal research and writing tool website, wrapping OpenAI’s API, also uses Python’s Flask web framework

  • LCBR - legal case based reasoning package which is based on Fortiori Reasoning

  • LexNLP - works with and applies natural language processing to a range of unstructured legal text, including plans, policies, contracts, procedures, etc

Indeed, it definitely is very useful to have these ready made, off-the-shelf libraries for legaltech. I haven’t used any myself I’m afraid, but they do look interesting.
