This free, public session, Exercise Training and the Menstrual Cycle: What’s a Girl to do? will take place from 5:15 pm to 6 pm on Thursday 16 November 2023.

The session will be presented by Dr Emma O’Donnell, a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University. Emma has a specialist focus on the female athlete, including the effects of the menstrual cycle, menstrual disturbances, and sex hormones on athletic performance and cardiovascular function. In this public lecture, the ‘normal’ menstrual cycle, menstrual disturbances, and the Female Athlete Triad will be discussed. Practical information on how parents and coaches can support female athletes to help prevent the development of any one component of the Triad will also be presented.
