What’s a Project That Taught You Way More Than You Expected?

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

Some of the most valuable lessons in Computer Science don’t come from lectures, tutorials, or textbooks, they come from projects that go completely off-script.

Maybe it started as a small assignment or personal idea. Maybe it was a hackathon or a group project. But somewhere along the way, it pushed you harder than you thought it would and taught you lessons you didn’t even know you needed.

For me (and probably many others), these are the moments where I learned the most:

  • How to stay calm when the code just won’t work

  • How to communicate clearly with team members when we’re all frustrated

  • How to research and teach myself something on the fly, whether it’s an unfamiliar tool, framework, or concept

  • And sometimes, how to accept that a feature just won’t make it in time

So I’d love to hear your stories:

  • :brain: What’s a project you worked on that taught you more than you expected?

  • :laptop: What challenges did you run into, maybe technical or otherwise?

  • :repeat_button: How did it change the way you approach projects now?

It doesn’t have to be a success story. In fact, the ones that go sideways are usually the ones that teach us the most.

Whether it’s a chaotic group project, a personal build that spiraled out of control, or something that gave you a totally new perspective on CS. Feel free to share. You never know who might learn from your experience.

Looking forward to hearing your stories :backhand_index_pointing_down:
