You should join every society or activity you are interested in. It might feel like you’ll be the only new one but that’s never the case. It’s a great way to meet new people and do other things than just study.
One thing I knew was that you should not treat Uni like A-levels, no one will come to tell you off so its all on you. Studying, cooking, meeting deadlines… EVERYTHING.
Go out as much as possible!! your social life will suffer in years 2 and 3 so enjoy while you can!
Make sure to at least get some form of exercise in, doesn’t have to be a 3hr battle in the gym but playing sports with people is not just a good form of exercise but also a great way of making new friends. Don’t hesitate to try new sports or things, university is a place for learning and not just your designated course.
That is a very insightful advice but first-year students have to be mindful of balancing their leisure activities, their studies, and additional, their part-time jobs.
I agree
Also, go check out ur campus, explore all the buildings and halls… not just for you department but all of them, ur paying over £9000 to be there, so make the most of it
It’s essential to balance your academic work with personal well-being, social activities, and self-care. University isn’t just about grades. it’s also a time for personal growth and exploring new interests.
