We have heard of various AI products being used in different industries, with the goal to assist in implementation of projects, execution of regular tasks and streamlining of other tasks. The UK civil service has ran a trial contract for 8 weeks with Faculty.ai, who provide AI solutions to the NHS, HSBC, EasyJet, amongst others.
The use of AI by governments is rather remarkable, particularly given the sensitive, high security nature of data that is worked with. Special care and attention needs to be taken to ensure that classified information is not fed into an AI service.
Simultaneously, given the increasing and more urgent need for legislation regulating AI, this could prompt law makers and policy actors to act, due to them seeing first hand effects, both positive and negative, of AI.
