Interviews are stressful and I definitely get nervous beforehand, usually I can’t sleep the night before. One time, I managed to arrive at the wrong side of town having entered the wrong postcode, luckily I still managed to make my way to the right place in time but it was close.
We would love to hear your interview fails.
Me, 21 years old (a long time ago!), second interview with very senior executive at a major oil company (I can still remember his name and picture the situation clearly). About 15 minutes into the interview, in a very circuitous way, the interview came round to use of the word “principal”.
Turned out I had mis-used the word “principle” in my (handwritten) cover letter.
Even after using autocorrect and proof reading my cover letters, I have managed to make simple grammar mistakes but I think sometimes even the interviewer reading doesn’t notice. I always seem to notice right after clicking the submit button.
Proofreading is difficult when applied to something you have written yourself. Get someone else to read it (someone whom you trust and who is good at spelling and grammar, obvs.)
I had a job interview online, it was a very very hot day. I started sweating from the nervs and how hot my room was starting to get. I didnt want to get up and open my window so I was on the verge of fainting
At the moment I can’t think of a specific one but what makes me anxious about online interviews is when there is someone at home and they come in to the room because they need to grab something. My mind automatically goes blank!
