Navigating Gender Bias in Job Applications: Trends and Realities

In an era marked by evolving societal norms and changing workplace dynamics, the issue of gender discrimination continues to be a subject of significant concern. Eric W. Dolan’s recent article delves into the intricate landscape of biases within job application outcomes over the past four decades. Highlighting findings from a comprehensive study, Dolan elucidates a nuanced narrative: while strides have been made in diminishing anti-women bias in traditionally male-dominated roles, a persistent and steadfast anti-male bias remains evident in sectors historically associated with femininity. This investigation not only sheds light on the trajectory of gender discrimination but also exposes the disparities between societal perceptions and the empirical realities of bias in hiring practices. Published in the esteemed scientific journal Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, this research, spearheaded by Michael Schaerer and a team of collaborators, offers crucial insights into the intricate dynamics of gender biases in the contemporary workplace.

It’s so diffcult to fully gather data to calculate gender discrimination when many areas cant be quantified such as behaviour towards women in the work place.
