A task force has raised concerns about Scotland having some of the lowest survival rates for severe cancers.
According to data from the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce (LSCT), among 33 countries with similar wealth and income levels, Scotland ranks 32nd for five-year survival in pancreatic cancer, 31st for stomach cancer, and 29th for lung cancer.
However, survival rates for oesophageal, brain, and liver cancers are comparatively higher, at 25th, 24th, and 12th positions. The taskforce notes that the rates of less survivable cancers are consistent across all UK nations.
